Mayor Michael J. Villa and the City of Amsterdam, NY contacted Engines of Creation Web Design and SEO to update the city’s existing branding and website to better align with the city’s new set of goals for residential living, tourism as well as attracting new businesses to relocate to the City of Amsterdam, NY.
The new City of Amsterdam website was designed to be clean and uncluttered, with rich content and vibrant photography (with photo donations from Mark Perfetti Photography LLC) that showcases the beautiful City of Amsterdam, NY. The new city website has been designed to offer an engaging experience on both mobile devices and desktop computers without sacrificing functionality.

The new city website has been designed to offer an engaging experience on both mobile devices and desktop computers and tablets without sacrificing functionality.
Notable features of the website include: an alert notification system that offers quick and easy access to essential alert information, language translation, a new announcement system for important city notifications, a unified downloads section where common city documents can be found in one location, a revamped city directory so residents can easily contact their elected officials and city departments, and streamlined structure and navigation for ease of use.
The Amsterdam Recreation Department’s entire website and content were reorganized into the the new City website, allowing for one location for management and announcement of all Amsterdam related recreational events, activities and announcements and related information.
Logo & Branding:
The City of Amsterdam, NY was looking for branding that represented both the city’s rich heritage and the future direction of the city. The traditional purple & gold school colors bring in a familiar theme for city residents, while a Windmill referencing The City of Amsterdam’s Dutch heritage and past sits center. The Mohawk River and MVGO bridge are elements that focus on growth and the expanding recreational events and economic development taking place along the city’s waterfront along with the new M.V.G.O. bridge.
The logo captures not only the city’s rich history, but points the way to a future bright with promise and revitalization.
